Happy & Sad Day

It’s both a happy and sad day. My ENGL SE amplifier is officially sold, as I received the first of two payments for it this morning. The SE is an amazing amplifier and I’m going to miss it, but at the same time it really is complete overkill for what my needs are.

Leaving Baghdad: What Should the Americans Do? - New York Times Blog

It’s nice to see something that I have been saying for months actually show up in a media outlet. It seems fairly straight forward to me, but is something I haven’t heard a single politician mention. It’s fairly simple. We took an industrialized, advanced nation and bombed it back to the stone age. We have a moral responsibility to repair the damage we caused, period. How we got there is irrelevant at this point.

CNN Political Ticker: Clinton wants help with campaign debt

So let me get this straight. Hillary spent $20 million of her own money promoting herself in her quest for personal power. Now that she’s lost, she expects people to pay her back the money she spent on herself? What the hell. Where can I sign up for this program?

I think the scariest thing is to be found in some of the response comments on CNN. I’m not a particularly big Obama fan, but come on people, the voters decided Hillary lost. Maybe if she had accepted the fact when it was obvious to everybody else she wouldn’t have wasted so much money. In addition please spare me this crap that she was some sort of victim. This graceless whining is just pathetic.

Electric Cars, A Brief Rant

I’m on a few forums and recent topics of conversation have been electric cars and hybrids. First off let me say I think low or no emissions vehicles are a great idea, and we should definitely pursue them. What I am tired of are people that don’t actually think about the subject. They see electric cars as some magical kind of pollution free panacea that will save us all from the bad things we’re supposed to be afraid of like global warming. They’re not. Just because the car runs on electricity and doesn’t produce pollution doesn’t mean the generation of the electricity was pollution free. If you’re in the eastern US odds are that the electricity powering that car came from a coal burning power plant, and produced more pollution than a gasoline engine would have. Also consider what the introduction of millions of electric cars would do to the power grid in a state like California where large parts of the grid are already overtaxed and brownouts are common.

Broke 10,000 Words

Anne’s out of town for the weekend, so I’ve been watching movies and writing. I broke 10,000 words on Sex in the Emerald City :woot:

I need to do some more brainstorming and outlining, but I’m at least making progress. I also need to come up with a new title, as the original doesn’t really fit beyond the original shorter idea.
